State Float Parade: Rolling Through State History

Scarselli Elementary 5th Graders Turn Research into Rolling Masterpieces

Fifth-grade students at Scarselli Elementary, guided by teachers Keri Bruno and Kristen Bell, brought history and creativity together in a colorful State Float Parade, showcasing their research and craftsmanship for the entire school to enjoy.

“Our 5th graders have worked hard to bring their state research to life through creativity and craftsmanship. This project integrates informational writing and research skills aligned with Nevada’s 5th-grade standards, as students gather, organize, and present key facts about their state. Their floats showcase the unique history, culture, and landmarks of each state, and we celebrated their learning and hard work with a parade of knowledge and pride through the school!” said Kristen Bell, 5th grade teacher.

As part of this larger project, students explored the geography, economy, history, and unique features of their chosen state. Their floats, proudly on display, featured state flags, mottos, nicknames, and iconic landmarks — all carefully crafted to represent the spirit of each state.

This hands-on learning experience not only brought their research to life but also gave students a chance to celebrate their knowledge in a fun and meaningful way for all grade levels to enjoy.
