Rotary Club of Minden gives Reading Pillows for Summer

Second graders at Gardnerville Elementary School and Minden Elementary School received special reading pillows a few weeks ago, thanks to a generous partnership between the Rotary Club of Minden, the Carson Valley Quilt Guild, and the Douglas County Public Library. View the photos on Facebook.
Each student shared their interests ahead of time, and the quilters found fabric to match—dinosaurs, sports, animals, and more. The handmade pillows included a built-in book pocket and came with a book selected for each student based on their interests, plus a second book of their choice.
We’re grateful for the creativity and care that went into this project, and to our community partners for making summer reading a little more fun—and personal—for our students!
