MES Kindness Club Collects 556 Pairs of Socks for Families in Need
Hailey Sebahar

Third graders in the MES Kindness Club organized a sock drive this month to donate to FISH, which supports families experiencing homelessness in our community.

Students set a goal of collecting 700 pairs of socks and got close, gathering 556 pairs to help keep people warm as the weather turns colder.

The idea came directly from the Kindness Club, made up of all third graders at MES. “We wanted to make sure people have warm things because it’s getting cold,” said Tenley C. “You can’t wear boots without socks,” added Swayer H.

Students also thought carefully about what types of socks to collect. “We tried to find socks that could be for girls or boys,” said Alder. “And some for kids too,” added Elianna H.

This was the first year of the Kindness Club’s sock drive, and they hope to make it an annual tradition.
