On January 9, 2025, Douglas High School’s Leadership students took part in the DREAM IT project, presenting their innovative proposals for improving DHS.
As part of this challenge, students identified a need within the school, researched solutions, and pitched their ideas to a panel of judges, with the winning project receiving a $1,000 grant for implementation this year.
Throughout the day, students delivered well-researched and persuasive presentations, incorporating visuals such as slides, models, and videos. Ideas ranged from a prom dress donation initiative and a campus garden project to revamping school hallways and creating a designated study lounge for students. Each pitch focused on inclusivity, school pride, and fostering a stronger sense of community at DHS.
After deliberation, the $1,000 grant was awarded to Giana Z. and Cammie J. for their “Repaint and Revamp” project, which aims to beautify the 400 Hallway. Their vision: “Our school halls should be as great as the people that walk through them.”
Thank you to Karen Lamb and Mena Dedmon, along with the panel members who took time out of their day to support this event. We will keep everyone posted on the winning project’s final reveal!
