Amy Carter Appointed as Principal of Pau-Wa-Lu Middle School for the 24-25 School Year

DCSD is excited to announce the appointment of Amy Carter as the new Principal of Pau-Wa-Lu Middle School, effective for the 2024-2025 school year, pending board approval.

Ms. Carter has been an integral part of the Douglas County School District, serving as Vice Principal at both Minden Elementary School and Gardnerville Elementary School over the past two years. Her extensive experience and dedication to educational leadership have prepared her for this new role.

During her tenure as Vice Principal, Ms. Carter played a pivotal role in enhancing the school climate and culture, fostering collaboration among staff, and implementing effective Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) processes. She has also been instrumental in creating standard operating procedures and leading various evaluation and training initiatives.

Amy Carter brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having previously served as a Kindergarten and 5th Grade ELA Teacher at Minden Elementary School, and as Elementary Ministry Director at The Crossing Church in Las Vegas. With over 15 years of teaching experience in grades K-5, she earned recognition as the DCSD Distinguished Educator of the Year in 2022 for her exceptional contributions to education. Her leadership skills have been honed through her participation in numerous committees and professional development programs within the district and beyond.

Ms. Carter holds a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University-Las Vegas and a Master of Education from Washington State University-Vancouver. Her commitment to student success, staff collaboration, and creating a positive learning environment make her an excellent choice to lead Pau-Wa-Lu Middle School.

Amy Carter expressed her excitement saying, “I look forward to joining this school staff and this community at Pau-Wa-Lu. I am excited to meet families and partner with them in their children’s education.”
